CREATIONS

We develop interior related products from waste. It’s a new way of stepping between the ending life cycle of a row material. We work towards a unique idea, what does not lack functionality, style, craftsmanship and is made to last a life time. ‘We create without a blueprint, from the product, which happens to be on the path. Everything made from waste.

Here in this archive of the products developed by One-Box, all products can be found on a 4-digit code, the zip code of the location where the products were originally found. They tell their journey, their story most clearly.

(QUADRUPL)

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

In order to make four objects from one marble slab, the slab must be processed and sawn, which in my experience is not an easy and fast process. After trying on a small piece of marble what a grinder would do, I discovered that this would be a long session.

Actually it wasn’t right, it didn’t feel right, the essence is to make new products with my hands, without machines, the grinder was dropped and a new, old technique for me, sawing with an old wood saw and using water as a guide. To further process the plate into quarters. An 8-hour process where the end result turned out very well. Again, a good example of a technique that you learn by performing it. I then added three facets on all sides, the marble slabs were ready to enter a new life stage. Subsequently, 4 equal bases were created from 4 walnut wood plates, which slide into each other and are therefore easy to transport, move and store.

A new existence.

Subsequently, four stackable, modular, multifunctional tables were created here. Playful, open-minded, functional and thinking in terms of possibilities. The object 1016 4E is about bringing together functions that create a user-friendly experience. It is about a playful design that is made to exist and is separate from expectations, trends and obligations.

From the knowledge I previously gained from working and creating with lead, I know that the material is strong but laborious and that it retains its shape quite well as long as it is a shape that creates pressure. This idea was inspired by water lily flowers, which are open, with just a little water in the center. Leaden, spherical bowls, with a tripod in which small, elongated objects can balance, such as a flower, pencil or an incense stick. This bowl can be used both indoors and outdoors and its small but playful round shape creates artistic mini objects. Playing with the position of the flowers, the way the bowl is placed and the reflection of the water brings us close to the essence of functional design.

Process of creation

From the making process, as a maker myself, I was surprised by what can be recreated from something that seems to have so few values. To share this with more people, to allow more people to experience a piece of this, and to be the first to make a series of these objects. A series limited to 18 pieces, each with its own character, slightly different, each unique and handmade.

It is the summary of simplicity, a way to give an honorable place to a single, refined flower from the garden, received or found. Something that is unique to your way of use, reflected in the patina that the object acquires over the years of use. Subsequently, eighteen modular, multifunctional objects were created here. Where Playfulness, openness and harmony. Coming together in the objects 1813 L18.

(ADAMV FUSION)

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

It started with preparing the products. Clean, sand and straight cut wood. Where the sketch then finds its way onto the wood. The correct shapes by hand, sawn from the original shape. Also in this process nothing is lost, the leftover pieces either become a new product or they go into the stove to heat my workshop. Even the sawdust is saved and reused. After hours of removing the shapes from the wood with handsaws, files, knives and sandpaper, the fusion part was created, the connection of the wood by means of a mortise and tenon connection.

Speak to the imagination.

To the core and bring insight that not everything has to be perfect. With this fusion, perfect and imperfect stand opposite each other, but also hand in hand, in an undisturbed wave of purity. Made of hardwood.

The processing of the reed, which has had to survive wind and weather for many years now. This had to be washed first, to release all the dirt and let her clean skin shine. We do this just like before, in a piece of open water next to the One-Box workshop, to save good drinking water. After washing it came to dry, luckily it was dry for 3 days so it could lay in the afternoon sun. During this time, it had to be regularly reversed and re-explained. Subsequently, the wood was given attention with the development of a skeleton strong enough to support a person and then sanded and polished by hand.

A product that is pure and close to nature.

Made from nature and is in fact part of nature. Where it exudes a sense of Japanese modern design and is prepared for its new life, with the story of an ancient man-made material. The object Thatch to the core, the pure and honest core. In this case, designing from a material has ensured that the reed is still the reed, only it is now in a shape and has been given a function that radiates imperfect perfection.

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

Processing began with the piece of stone. Covered in dust and seemingly unsalvageable. First take a good look at the damage, clean it and then remove the adhesive strip from the back, sand the back and edges, polish and apply new facets. But still retaining the used character of this unique piece. After hours of work, it was the turn of the wood to be sanded. To get the right shapes in the wood and then to find out how the base can have slanted legs as well as support the marble slab that weighs more than 30 kilos. This was ultimately feasible from an ingenious system of a different way of connecting.

With a stylish and timeless mid-70s feel.

This table is ready for its new life, with a story of one of the world’s best-known fashion and jewelery houses intertwined with harmony. A good example that simplicity is often enough.

Made out of marble from the old Cartier boutique in Amsterdam.

(KNOWLEDGE CABINET)

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

The marble, so weathered and abused at first, was almost unrecognizable. It could just be seen that it was marble. Fortunately, One-Box is there to save this kind of stuff as well. A new polishing, which took more than 4 hours per slab, and restoration work on the marble ensured that its white, clear shine was visible again for the first time in years. The wood, which had a layer of lacquer that made it feel anything but natural, also deserves some attention. And after this they are ready for a new life

Modern, sleek and functional.

The object 1017 is about bringing together multiple functions and is not inferior in terms of design and design. It stems from a problem that found its way to me by chance. Made from a fusion of Carrara marble and oak wood.

1813 F

(FLORAL TABLE)

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

An idea just comes to me, it arises in my head and the next step is to actually make it. In this design, many different things were meant to find their way. Including the reflection of glass and water, the lead and a carrier, travertine. To make the object safe, it is coated on the underside, which ensures that the bottom and sides are safe to touch. The top can be covered by glass, so that it remains a practical object.

The object 1813 F is about bringing my past and present together.

I do this through reflection, the art form of balance and expertise. Where I bring together multiple techniques that overlap. Be aware, touching lead with bare skin is not recommended, it is a decorative object that must be handled with great care.

(CONCRETEDRILLING)

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

During the making process, the idea was that the feeling of roughness could be preserved, so the concrete was given a rough sanding and the rest remained in its roughness. The lamp socket comes from a wastebasket near the workshop and a piece of aluminum sheet that was lying on the side of the road and then became the lampshade and light source. From the expertise of my grandfather, who was an electrician, it was already known that messing with electricity is not such a good idea, so it was prudent to go and test everything for a long time and calmly. During the making I needed something new for the first time, the lamp.

The object 1016 is to the core of a raw material, literally a core.

What makes the design unique is the play with light, it not only radiates downwards, like the average table lamp, but also creates a horizontal line through the space. Which is a unique element. The perfect balance between design and functionality.

(LIQUEFACATION)

PRICE ON REQUEST (Contact me via my email or phone number in the contact section. )

An idea as broad as creating a combination between my floral background and design knowledge and a piece of lead come together in round shapes. What a set of Ikebana bowls has become as a base. With a stabbing background also made of lead with round holes in it to balance the flowers. The coming together of flowers, interior and design in a new design made to enjoy the simple things in life in peace.

The convergence of all my professional techniques.

The object 1813 is about bringing together several techniques that overlap. It is a piece of history about the expertise I have gained. Be aware, touching lead with bare skin is not recommended, it is a decorative object that must be handled with great care.
